What you can use for free
Free includes voice input, smart text cleanup, a personal dictionary, the desktop AI assistant and local history. The core feature set is shared by Free, Plus and Pro; upgrading increases your weekly usage allowance.
- Dictate into compatible Windows desktop and browser text fields.
- Turn spoken phrasing into an editable draft with text cleanup.
- Manage recurring names and specialist terms in your personal dictionary.
- Use the separate AI assistant to ask questions and develop an idea.
- Review and manage voice history and assistant conversations on your device.
A free plan with a weekly allowance
Free is a US$0 plan with recurring weekly usage. It is not just a free installer followed by a mandatory paid subscription. The allowance covers the processing used across voice input, cleanup, the assistant and eligible dictionary work.
Your account shows remaining usage and the next refresh. Longer recordings and different processing steps can use different amounts, so we do not promise a fixed word or minute count. If the allowance is exhausted, wait for its next refresh or choose a paid plan for more usage.
Start free on Windows
Download the official Windows x64 installer, install Whispek and sign in. You need a microphone, an internet connection and available allowance. English and Simplified Chinese interfaces are available.
- Focus a compatible text field in your email, notes or document app.
- Start recording with the shortcut shown in Whispek; the Windows default is Right Alt.
- Speak, stop recording and review the resulting text.
- Correct names, numbers and meaning before you send or save. If text does not insert, copy the result and paste it into the intended field.
Free speech to text for everyday writing
Dictate a reply, capture a note or explain a detailed request to an AI tool. This is live microphone input for writing in compatible fields. You stay responsible for reviewing and sending the text.
Choose the right kind of free tool
A browser dictation notepad, a desktop voice typing app and a service that transcribes uploaded recordings solve different problems. Whispek is a Windows desktop app and requires installation and sign-in. This page is not an in-browser recorder or an audio-file upload converter.
Whispek speech recognition, text cleanup and assistant responses use cloud processing. Local history is stored on your device; that does not make recognition offline. Mac is planned and does not yet have a public installer.
Upgrade when you need more usage
You do not need a paid plan to unlock the core features. Plus offers 10 times the Free weekly allowance and Pro offers 25 times. The current pricing page explains prices and account terms.
Choose by how much you use the app. Paid plans increase allowance; they do not promise unlimited processing or a separate accuracy tier.
