Service availability

A practical place to start when voice input or Quick Ask cannot connect.

About this page

This site does not currently publish a live monitoring feed or an incident-history feed. This page therefore does not report that all systems are operational. The result shown in your client is the relevant signal for your request.

Check the affected step

Voice input depends on the microphone, your connection, account access, speech recognition and text cleanup. Quick Ask depends on account access and the response service. An issue at one step does not identify which service is responsible.

  • Check your network and account sign-in state.
  • If no speech is detected, confirm the selected microphone and Windows microphone permission.
  • Read the client error message before retrying; an account or usage issue needs a different fix from a connection failure.

Recover your work

When a recording has been saved, open History to inspect it and retry the failed recognition or cleanup step. If automatic insertion fails, copy the available result and paste it into the target field. A saved local record can help recovery; it does not guarantee every interrupted recording was saved.

Report a persistent issue

Include the time and timezone, client version, affected feature and visible error. A short description of whether the issue repeats helps us investigate. Remove sensitive text before sending screenshots or logs.
