Ask with the context you choose
You can open the assistant from the desktop shortcut and bring selected text into the question. Review the context before sending, add what is missing and remove anything the request does not need. The assistant should not have to guess which passage you mean.
Turn a vague request into a useful question
Example: “Explain this paragraph in plain English. Keep the two dates exactly as written, then list the questions I should ask the author.”
For a draft, name the audience, purpose and length. For an explanation, say what you already understand. If the answer misses something, continue in the same conversation with a specific follow-up.
Bring a reference. Ask for sources.
Add a supported document or image when it helps explain the question. Documents are read locally to extract text, and the text included in your submitted question is sent for processing. A text-based PDF can be useful; a scan without a text layer may not provide usable text.
An optional search setting lets the assistant use web search when needed. Enable it for a question that needs current information, then inspect the sources returned with the answer. Enabling search does not mean every question will trigger a web lookup.
Use dictation and the assistant for different jobs
Dictation puts your words into a text field. The assistant generates a response to a request. You can dictate a prompt into another AI app, or choose Whispek’s assistant for a separate conversation. Neither workflow means Whispek automatically submits work to another service for you.
Local conversations, cloud answers
Assistant history is saved on your computer. Messages and references needed for an answer are sent for cloud processing. Review important facts and generated wording before relying on them; local storage does not make the service offline.
A voice prompt or a voice assistant?
To write a request for ChatGPT, Claude or a coding assistant, use voice typing in a compatible prompt field or paste the result there. To have Whispek answer, open its own assistant. Your question goes to the destination you choose; Whispek does not connect those accounts or automatically send the prompt.
