Change the interface without changing your speech settings
Open Settings → General → Display language. The current desktop interface offers English, Simplified Chinese and Automatic. Automatic follows the supported system language and falls back to English when it cannot match.
This setting does not select a speech language or translate your dictation. The website’s language choices are separate again: the number of website translations is not a count of supported recognition languages.
Choose automatic detection or your usual languages
Open Settings → Voice and input → Recognition languages. The app loads available languages from the current service. Choose Detect automatically if you want recognition without a manually selected language list, or select the languages you commonly speak.
You can select up to four language hints, subject to the limit shown by the service. Four is a selection limit, not the total number of languages recognition can support. More selected languages do not guarantee a better result.
- Wait for the supported language choices to finish loading.
- Choose Detect automatically, or select only the relevant languages shown.
- If you have reached the displayed limit, deselect one before adding another.
- Check for a save error. Successfully saved changes apply to your next recording.
Set up an English or Chinese writing session
For an English passage, start with automatic detection or choose English when it is offered. Do the same for Chinese using the currently available choice. You can keep your preferred menu language throughout.
If a passage contains both Chinese and English, you may use automatic detection or relevant supported hints. Review names, abbreviations and the point where languages switch.
Resolve a language list that cannot load or save
If the list cannot load, check your sign-in and connection, then choose Reload languages. Existing selections are preserved while the app cannot confirm the supported list. A missing list does not prove that a particular language is unsupported.
A choice marked as needing attention means the current service does not support that saved selection. Deselect it or choose automatic detection after the list loads. If the app says changes are not saved, resolve the message before assuming that your next recording will use the new choices.
Use the dictionary for recurring names
When one product name or technical term repeatedly comes out wrong but the rest of the sentence is clear, add its intended spelling in Dictionary. A relevant entry is more useful than changing every language setting to solve one name.
If ordinary words are also missing or distorted, first check the microphone, background noise and input level. Dictionary entries and language hints can guide recognition, but neither can recover speech the microphone did not capture clearly.
Ask for translation as a separate task
Selecting English as a recognition hint does not instruct Whispek to translate a Chinese passage into English. Text cleanup prepares writing; a translation needs an explicit request to the assistant. Review the translated answer before placing it in a document or message.
