A free Typeless alternative for Windows writing
Whispek Free includes voice input, text cleanup, a personal dictionary, local history and a separate AI assistant, with recurring weekly allowance. You do not need a paid subscription to use those core tools.
Typeless also offers a free plan. A free alternative is not automatically a cheaper or better choice for every workflow. Compare the included features and limits using the current official plan pages.
What happens when the free allowance runs out?
Your Whispek account shows remaining use and the next refresh. At the limit, wait for the next allowance refresh or choose a paid plan for more use. Whispek paid plans increase allowance rather than offering exclusive core features.
Start with the devices you need today
Whispek currently offers a Windows x64 app with English and Simplified Chinese interfaces. Its Mac version is planned. Typeless lists macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android on its official site and pricing page.
If moving between a computer and phone is essential, that difference matters before comparing writing features. If you mainly work on Windows, look more closely at how each application handles your drafts, vocabulary and questions.

Choose the interaction you want to repeat
In Whispek, dictation prepares text for a compatible input field. The assistant is a separate conversation for questions or instructions, where you can keep asking follow-ups. Selected text can be included when the source app allows it to be read; otherwise, paste the context yourself. Supported references can add detail when a short prompt alone is not enough.
Typeless also describes editing selected text by voice and asking questions about it. Both apps offer assistance beyond dictation. Choose based on whether you prefer to start with a text selection, dictate directly into your writing app or keep a continuing conversation beside your work.
Cloud processing and saved history are separate choices
Whispek requires internet access for speech recognition, cleanup and assistant answers. Voice recordings, transcripts and assistant conversations have local history controls. Dictionary cloud learning is enabled by default and can be disabled separately; turning it off does not turn recognition into an offline service.
Typeless’s privacy policy says audio and relevant context are processed in the cloud and discarded after a result is returned, with stated exceptions for voluntary feedback. It also allows history text to be stored when cloud sync is enabled. Read the policy and your selected settings together; a statement about local history alone does not establish where speech is processed.
Make the choice around your writing
Consider Whispek if your current work is on Windows and you want a dedicated combination of dictation, reviewable history, manually managed vocabulary and an assistant conversation. Its Free plan includes the core features with a weekly allowance, so you can begin without a paid subscription.
Consider Typeless if its listed device coverage, translation or per-app writing style matches a requirement you already have. Compare the current plan terms before committing. We have not measured which product is faster or more accurate, and neither a feature list nor a marketing example can settle that for your particular vocabulary.
